| ABOUT US
Our son Holden Kai Halili Bikichky was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare childhood liver cancer in 2001. After a year and a half of chemotherapy, antiangiogenic therapy, numerous surgeries, herbal medicines and lots and lots of love and prayers, Holden got his angel wings on May 7th, 2003. He was two years and four months old.
Hepatoblastoma comprises less than 1% of all childhood cancers. It usually occurs in males and 90% of the time in children under five. It is curable in up to 67% of the diagnosed children. Unfortunately, because hepatoblastoma is so rare and has a generally high cure rate, little funding goes to new studies in this area. This information is not comforting when your child falls into the other 33%.
We created Holden's Hope Train as a vehicle to raise awareness and funds for hepatoblastoma research and to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (our second home during treatment).
